Hanukkah is an eight day festival of light celebrating the miracle of an ancient Jewish military victory over an occupying army and of the oil used to light the lamp in the Temple lasting for eight days---seven days longer than expected. It is marked by candle lighting, singing, game playing, and eating foods fried in oil.
